Are You Different?
Then Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters may be for you...
Is your child different? Does he or she do things which you can't explain?
If so, you may be looking for someone to help you and your child through this
difficult time in his or her life. After all, many problems can afflict children
during their early years, and oftentimes parents don't know where to turn. In
this time of increased scrutiny of people who are different from others, parents
and children need a support network.

Here at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, we teach children to cope with
these very issues, enabling them to find their place in a world which does not
always offer acceptance. Please take a moment to look through this brochure
and see what we provide.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters is located in the quaint town of Salem
Center in upstate New York's Westchester County. The estate sprawls across ten
acres and offers everything from swimming to tennis to horseback riding. In
addition, the school boasts a rigorous curriculum of studies geared toward the
grade levels of our students, most of whom are above average in all disciplines.
As our enrollment is extremely exclusive*, all classes are taught by our founder
Professor Charles Xavier. One of the country's leading educators, Professor
Xavier holds several advanced degrees from some of the top universities in the
world. On those rare occasions when Professor Xavier's busy schedule prevents
him from teaching a class, one of the other faculty members (Professors Moira
MacTaggert, Sean Cassidy and Emma Frost) will fill in.
The centerpiece of the estate is the 20-room mansion. Each student receives
a private bedroom which is completely furnished with all the usual amenities,
including a state-of-the-art PC with Internet access and a school e-mail account.
A spacious common room dominates the first floor. During the evenings, most
of the students congregate there to study, play board games, or simply chat
and get to know one another better. The estate's staff always makes sure there
is a roaring fire in the fireplace during the winter.
_______________
As a
private institution, we don't disclose enrollment figures. Suffice it to say,
we have an extensive waiting list.

Beneath the mansion is a large gymnasium equipped with weights, gymnastic equipment,
a training room, a sauna and a pool. At Xavier's School, we believe that a healthy
mind is useless unless it is housed in a healthy body. Occasionally we administer
rigorous tests of our students' physical skills, so we expect our new students
to be physically sound when they enroll or they may have difficulty keeping
up with the rest of the class.
Unlike most schools, there are no semesters at Xavier's School. Instruction
is year-round. Students may go home for the major holidays, and parents are
invited to visit once a year for our Open House in the autumn. While we understand
the desire to "just drop by" for a visit, such activity is discouraged simply
because it is important for our students to learn independence while mastering
their studies and coming to terms with the changes they are going through.
A major part of this quest for independence is the timeless tradition of going
on field trips. Unlike most schools, however, our field trips are a bit more
daring and adventurous. Past classes have journeyed to other states or even
foreign countries, often acting as ambassadors of Professor Xavier's message
of peace and understanding among all people of the world, no matter what their
external or internal differences may be.

Still Not Convinced?
Listen to what several former students have to say about Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters...
"Professor
Xavier took me in when I was but a child. I grew up under his tutelage
and he's always been there for me, even when I've encountered crises
as an adult."
-Scott Summers
"When
I was younger, I just wanted to fit in, and the professor helped
me so much. He gave me a place I could call home."
- Jean Grey
"I
was an orphan from Africa who grew up on the streets of Cairo, but
that didn't stop Professor Xavier from bringing me to his school
and treating me like I was one of his own. By the goddess, I will
never forget that."
-Ororo Monroe
"Charley's
an alright guy."
-Logan
