Weapons of War

Even though you play on the Allied side during the single-player campaign, you can take on the role of an Allied or Axis character during multiplayer mayhem. Here’s a rundown of the weapons you’ll have at your disposal during the game. You’ll pick up some of the Axis weapons and use them during the single-player game.

Allied Weapons

Colt .45Colt .45: Nothing beats a good sidearm when you’ve run out of ammunition for your other weapons and the bad guys are closing in. Watch out for the nasty kick this one delivers.

OSS Hi-Standard Silenced Pistol: The OSS is the Office of Strategic Services, an organization formed during World War II and the source of Powell’s orders during most of the single-player game. This pistol is accurate and quiet, which makes it perfect for times when stealth is key.

M1 GarandM1 Garand: This popular semiautomatic rifle’s only drawback is the fact that it’s difficult to reload when its eight-round clip is partially used.

SpringfieldSpringfield ’03 Sniper Rifle: This sniper rifle is perfect for picking off enemy soldiers from afar, but its magazine only holds five rounds and you must reload it one round at a time, a time-consuming process that leaves you vulnerable to return fire.

ThompsonThompson Submachine Gun: Facing several enemy soldiers in close quarters? Sweep them away with this submachine gun.

Browning Automatic Rifle: Use this gun to cover fellow troops as they advance on a position.

Mark 2Mark II Frag Grenade: The shrapnel from this grenade covers a 50-yard area, so take cover after you throw one.

BazookaBazooka: Point the bazooka’s tube in the direction you want to fire and send a three-pound grenade into a group of enemy soldiers. This weapon isn’t highly accurate, but it’s great for taking out several troops at once.

Winchester Shotgun: This pump-action shotgun isn’t very accurate either, but it’s perfect for dealing with several enemy troops in close quarters if you don’t have another weapon at your disposal.

M1919A4 .30 Cal Mounted Machine Gun: You’ll often find this heavy duty weapon mounted on the back of jeeps. Don’t worry about running out of ammo — this gun comes with an unlimited amount in the game.

  Axis Weapons

Walther P38: This reliable semiautomatic pistol was popular among German soldiers.

Mauser KAR 98K: The basic rifle used by most German troops.

KAR 98 Sniper Rifle: Add a scope to this gun and you have a deadly long distance weapon.

MP40MP40 Submachine Gun: This successor to the MP38 is perfect for firefights in close quarters.

STG44 Sturmgewehr: The first assault rifle ever made, this is a powerful weapon.

MG42 Mounted Machine Gun: This gun’s unique firing system allows it to achieve rates of fire three times greater than comparable Allied weapons. Like the M1919A4 mounted machine gun, the MG42 never runs out of ammo during the game.

StielhStielhandgrendate: This distinctive-looking grenade is basically a cylinder attached to the end of a stick. Like the Mark II Frag Grenade, the Stielhandgrendate is lethal when thrown into a group of enemy soldiers.

Panzerschreck: Like the bazooka, this weapon fires a rocket-powered grenade out of a tube. It’s a larger version of the Panzerfaust, which is a staple in the game Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Vehicles

Medal of Honor gives you the opportunity to drive a tank during one mission and fire a mounted machine gun from the back of a jeep during another. Here’s a rundown of all the Axis and Allied vehicles in the game.

Allied Vehicles

HigginsHiggins Boat: That was the official name of the landing craft that brings you to Omaha Beach on D Day. Many credited Andrew Higgins’ invention with giving the Allies a huge boost, including Eisenhower, who said: “Higgins is the man who won the war for us.”

Jeep: This vehicle was ubiquitous during World War II, and you’ll spend some time on the back of one early in the game as you take out enemy troops and destroy their planes with a mounted machine gun.

ShermanSherman tank: A five-man crew was required to operate these tanks, which were considered inferior to many of the Axis tanks but still held their own in many battles.

P-47P-47 Thunderbolt Airplane: This sturdy plane was commonly used to attack ground targets. There are a couple missions during the game where you’ll need to call in aerial attacks, and these are the planes that will deliver them.

C-47 Skytrain Airplane: When the Allies needed to transport large numbers of troops and supplies through the air, the C-47 was often summoned into duty.

L-4 Piper Cub Airplane: This plane was often used to scout enemy locations. During one mission, you’ll need to rescue a pilot who was shot down in a Piper Cub.
  Axis Vehicles

Opel Blitz 3-Ton Truck: The Opel was commonly used to transport Axis troops. You’ll need to sabotage a few of them during one mission, and you’ll often see them coming up the road with a load of troops on other occasions. Shoot the front of the truck repeatedly and you should bring it to a halt.

SD. KFZ. 251 Armored Halftrack: There were 22 variations of this vehicle, which typically carried troops who were accompanying tanks. Most of these halftracks had machine guns mounted on the back.

BMW R75M Motorcycle with Sidecar: Sidecars were added to these motorcycles so that a gunner could protect the driver. You get to destroy a few of these while carrying out your missions in North Africa, before the Normandy invasion.

VI TigerPZ. KPFW. VI Tiger Tank: This tough tank had the ability to destroy the inferior Sherman tanks by firing shells from beyond the Sherman’s range.

King TigerPZ. KPFW. WSVI AUSF B King Tiger Tank: Late in the war, the OSS sends you to steal one of these tanks and deliver it to Allied forces. It was arguably the most powerful tank used during World War II.

PZ. KPFW. IV Medium Tank: There were a number of variations of this tank used during the war. It was often equipped with anti-air guns for use against Allied planes.

Focke-WulfFocke-Wulf FW 190 Airplane: This plane was widely used by Axis pilots as a solid, all-around plane.

Junkers JU87 Stuka Airplane: The JU87 was very vulnerable to attack from above when dogfighting. You’ll destroy several of these planes during a North Africa mission.
