Back to Resumé

Before the summer of 2000, I wrote many articles about comic books and movies. Most of those articles were printed in such magazines as Combo, indy, Carpe Noctem, MAIN, and others. One of these days I will scan them in and have them available for download as PDFs.

I’ve also published four short stories in various comic book anthologies during the past few years and will get those online when I can. Several years ago, I wrote “The Love Song of a Twenty-Something,” a parody of T.S. Eliot's “Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.” It was published by a magazine that never bothered to tell me they had accepted it. I discovered a while back they had placed it on their Web site, but that link is now dead, so I've resurrected it from the old Word document.

In the meantime, here are links to articles I wrote for Mania Magazine (which is now defunct; I was able to salvage a few articles, but of course I don't have the accompanying image files) and a few others.

For Mania Magazine:

“Swashbuckling Scribes: An Interview with the Screenwriters of The Mask of Zorro

“The Iron Giant: Animated, Yes, But Not Cartoony”

“Don Bluth Talks Titan A.E.”

Star Wars Prequel: Scoops, Rumors and Lies”

Star Wars: Hints, Rumors and Clues About Episode Two”

Titan A.E. Future Animation: Don Bluth in Space”

The following articles were written as part of a promotional tie-in with the X-Men movie that hit theaters during the summer of 2000. The first three articles are biographies of some of the actors in the film and the other two are fun, creative pieces. Check ‘em out.

“Hugh Jackman Takes on Wolverine: He Slices! He Dices! He Sings!”

“Darth Toad: From Darth Maul to the Toad”

“Sir Magneto: English Knight Fights X-Men”

“An Opposing Viewpoint” (Senator Kelly's response to an editorial that I wrote in Professor X's voice; unfortunately, I don't have the HTML file for that one)

“Are You Different?”
(mock brochure for Professor Xavier's school)

For indy magazine (indy converted to a web-only publication in 1998, but my articles are no longer online, so I've salvaged them from the Word docs):

“Scott Morse: Creator of Soulwind”

“Spotlight on Rat Bastard”

For Carpe Noctem magazine (Carpe Noctem is now defunct too, so I allowed a Bryan Talbot fan site to publish this article):

“Slipping Through the Parallels with Bryan Talbot”
